Natural botanical properties

Minimis celebrates the natural potency of ingredients. Every ingredient has been chosen for its own powerful property. Below are some of the key ingredients we use in our formulations and their functions.

Algae (Laminaria)

Algae is a type of seaweed. Algae contains iodine, an element that the body needs to make thyroid hormones. It is also a rich source of iron and potassium. Algae is used for weight loss, high blood pressure, as a bulk laxative for constipation, and for treating radiation sickness. It is also used for preventing cancer.

Blue Chamomile (Matricaria Recutita L)

The flowers of chamomile contain 1–2% volatile oils including alpha-bisabolol, alpha-bisabolol oxides A & B, and matricin (usually converted to chamazulene and other flavonoids which possess anti-inflammatory and antiphlogistic properties. Chamomile is widely used to treat inflammations of the skin and mucous membranes, and for various bacterial infections of the skin, oral cavity and gums, and respiratory tract.

Chia Seed (Salvia Hispanica)

Chia seed is well known of its high content of omega‐3 fatty acids and dietary fibre. It also has a high concentration of proteins and essential amino acids, becoming a promising source of bioactive peptides. A total of 20 proteins were catalogized in chia seed. It is also an excellent source of polyphenols and antioxidants, such as caffeic acid, rosmarinic acid, myricetin, quercetin, and others.

Sweet Grass (Hierochloe Odorata)

Sweet grass contains coumarin, which gives the plant its characteristic scent. Coumarin has blood-thinning properties and some research has shown that coumarin and related compounds can be effective in reducing high-protein edemas, especially lymphedema. It is also beneficial in treating common cold and flu.

Cucumber (Cucumis Sativus)

Cucumber is packed with nutrients like vitamin K, vitamin C, magnesium, phosphorus, riboflavin, B-6, folate, pantothenic acid, iron, silica, calcium and zinc. It is a good source of phytonutrients (plant chemicals that have protective or disease preventive properties) such flavonoids, lignans and triterpenes, which have antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and anti-cancer benefits.

Goji Berry (Lycium Barbarum)

Goji berries contain polysaccharides, beta-carotene, and zeaxanthin. Polysaccharides help increase total antioxidant activity in the body. Beta-carotene is vital for eye health, bone health, skin health, and cell development. The amount of beta-carotene in goji berries is among the highest of all edible plants. Zeaxanthin plays a crucial role in supporting immune system.

Green Tea (Camellia Sinensis)

Green tea has been found to have anti-cancer & cancer preventative effects, specifically reducing the carcinogenic effects of female hormones. Its immune and inflammatory modulating activity can also be beneficial in fever, cough, colds/flu, infections and edema. Jojoba (Simmondsia Chinensis)

Jojoba oil and wax both have emollient properties that can soften and soothe the skin by trapping moisture on the outermost layer of skin. It is also a natural remedy for a number of skin conditions, including acne, alopecia (hair loss), burns, eczema, psoriasis, striae (stretch marks), sunburn and wrinkles.

Squalane

Squalane is a hydrocarbon derived by hydrogenation of squalene. It provides excellent hydration. The antioxidants in squalane fight skin damage and free radicals, which can both accelerate the aging process. Regular use can also boost collagen production, resulting in firmer skin. Squalane also has anti-inflammatory properties, so it can soothe a variety of inflammatory skin problems.
